Meat - Sautéed Chard & Kale, Shredded Pork, Mozzarella, Soubise, and Green Onion & Pickled Vegetable Gremolata
Veg - Creamy Polenta, Maple Glazed Carrots, Mozzarella, Arugula Salad and Cherry Tomatoes
Dessert - Mango Curd Tart with Candied Limes and Tajin
What is Cheese Slipper Night?
You may not know it, but Cheese Slipper Night has a rich history in Kansas City.
Fred Spompinato created the event at Fervere Bread Company in the Westside of Kansas City in 2012. What is a Cheese Slipper, you ask? Oh, it’s incredible. The iconic Cheese Slipper is crafted by the perfect combination of a house-made ciabatta dough, various kinds of cheese mixed throughout the dough, and topped with local seasonal fruits and vegetables, then served fresh out of the hearth of the oven. Cheese Slipper Nights were a favorite during those summers. Dozens of people would line up outside Fervere, anticipating the mouthwatering loaf and flavor combinations they would soon enjoy. Kansas Citians were hooked.
As Fred and Fervere grew and combined with Ibis Bakery, they knew they must keep the Cheese Slipper Night tradition alive.
When Messenger Coffee + Ibis Bakery opened in 2017 on Grand Blvd in the Crossroads, Cheese Slipper Night returned. Back in the heart of the Crossroads District, Cheese Slipper Night is the perfect complement to First Fridays, an evening built around supporting local artists - the artform of food became necessary to include.
After a couple of crazy years, we are excited to announce that Cheese Slipper Night is back at Messenger Coffee + Ibis Bakery.
Stop by Messenger on Grand on First Fridays from 6:30 pm-Sell Out to celebrate the highly anticipated return of this event! Get there early: Cheese Slippers are only available first-come, first-served. Enjoy our highly coveted Cheese Slippers topped with various ingredients from local vendors, desserts made by Ibis Bakery, and a seasonal salad by our very own kitchen.
It will be a perfect night to enjoy local art and sit on our rooftop with a Cheese Slipper.
