New Coffee Release: RELAY ESPRESSO
Messenger is a coffee company, sure. But there is a lot more to us than that simple fact. Each coffee we purchase, craft, and serve is a part of a larger narrative.
While in our care, we believe that the coffee holds within it a message. The message that coffee conveys, however, may be different to each person.
One may be struck by the beauty of the flavors and captivated in a moment of deep wonder as to why the coffee is so unique and special. That aesthetic captivation may speak to a deeper value, a connection to something beyond most coffees – to something that is meaningful.
Another may be made aware of the other humans who have created that beautiful cup. The farmer and her children her rise early every morning to draw water from their well, walk it up the mountain, and carefully portion it so that each coffee tree can have its morning cup. That connection to how coffee is bought and sold, the impacts of equity created when a supply chain is healthy and strong may begin to come into focus.
Another still may have their tired eyes propped open by a caffeine assistant, immediately made more aware of their surrounding and the day that lies ahead. The coffee may remind them of the meetings they need to prepare for, the red light up ahead, or may even give them just enough extra brain power that they solve one of life’s key mysteries that day.
Each cup of coffee we serve has the power to make change. Each encounter we have with it leaves us different, and hopefully just a little bit better off, than we were before it.
Our responsibility to pass that message to each customer we share a coffee moment with is sacred to us. We are the Messenger. We Relay the spirit of the coffee and the people that Relayed it to us with a deep sense of awe and care.
We are proud to bring a new espresso blend to our coffee community that embodies this function. Relay Espresso represents the hands that the coffee has passed through. It represents the steps this message has taken to get to your cup. It also holds a string of meaning back to the old pony express days that our region is so proud of, a history of pushing the envelope with a mad rush until complete exhaustion to deliver what could very well be a message that changes lives.

Relay Espresso is current composed of three coffees from three different countries, Brazil, Guatemala, and the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. This will not be a static blend, however. Our team of roasters and quality control experts, along with our coffee buyer, will work to keep the blend fresh and vibrant as different regions around the world move into their harvest seasons.
As the coffees rotate seasonally in this blend, so too will the flavor – ever so gently – slowly changing in color with the seasons. A message and story worth relaying is full of twists and turns and takes the receiver on a journey. We believe this adds to the excitement of the blend.
Subtle changes in accentuated notes may rise and fall with the seasons, but one key thing will remain constant – Quality. We will not compromise on quality. The expression and identity of Relay Espresso will remain intact, each coffee taking the pace of the one before it, pushing forward in the quality-focused race toward each experience.
